2 Children Hospitalized in Crash Near Fort Collins
Fort Collins, CO - A crash early in the afternoon on Thursday, August 22nd, left two children with life-threatening injuries. Fort Collins police responded to a call reporting the accident at the intersection of Carpenter Road and South County Road 9 around 1:43 p.m.
According to authorities Elvis Guerrero, 33, was driving eastbound on Carpenter in a 2002 Ford F-350 pickup pulling a trailer when a Ford Explorer, driven by 27-year-old Tiffany Burke, turned left off of South County Road in front of the truck.
The two young passengers in the SUV were taken to Children’s Hospital in Aurora with life-threatening injuries, while Burke was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies. Guererro reportedly did not suffer any injury.
The road was closed for several hours as crews cleaned up and investigated the scene. Police are still working to determine whether alcohol, drugs, or speed were factors in the crash.
