4 Injured in Crash at Highway 50 Intersection
Otero County, CO - A two-car collision on Highway 50 in Otero County left four people injured on Friday, June 7th.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash occurred in the morning around 10:42 a.m. at an intersection just west of Rocky Ford.
A Kia sedan, carrying driver Sherry Haas Smith, 55, and passenger Andrew Deason, 33, failed to yield the right of way to a Toyota pickup truck driven by 62-year-old Walter Kinzer and also carrying one passenger, 47-year-old Arthur Montanez.
After colliding, the Kia spun several times before coming to a stop, while the Toyota ran off the side of the road. Both vehicles remained on their wheels and sustained significant front-end damage, the CSP reported.
All four people involved were taken to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center for treatment. The status of their injuries is unknown at this time.
The CSP noted that all drivers and passengers had been wearing their seatbelts and that alcohol and drugs are not being considered as factors in the crash.
