Colorado Springs Hit-and-Run Driver Identified
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (May 16, 2019) – A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash involving a motorcyclist in central Colorado Springs last month.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. April 8 at the intersection of Fillmore Street and Cascade Avenue. Police said an RV was trying to turn left onto Cascade when it collided with an oncoming motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was hospitalized with serious injuries.
The RV driver, 39-year-old Brian Abeyta of Colorado Springs, was taken into custody last Tuesday.
Abeyta allegedly drove away from the accident and police later found the RV abandoned several blocks away.
Abeyta is facing several charges, including leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury and failing to report an accident.
