Driver Killed in Head-On Crash Wednesday Morning in Ellicott
Ellicott, CO - One person was killed in a head-on auto collision early Wednesday morning August 7th on Highway 94 in El Paso County, said Colorado State Patrol Trooper Gary Cutler.
The crash, between a truck and a Cadillac sedan, happened around 4:50 a.m. about one mile east of Ellicott near the intersection of Highway 94 and Ellicott Road.
Reports say the unidentified driver of the Cadillac was heading east in the westbound lanes when he collided with an International truck.
The Cadillac driver died at the scene and the truck driver was not injured. One of the vehicles involved in the crash caught fire, Cutler said.
27-year-old Levi Nily, of Yoder, was behind the wheel of the truck. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Cutler said the crash appears to be the fault of the driver who died. The name of the victim has not been released.
The highway was closed until approximately 10:30 a.m.
