Elderly Couple Killed in Fatal Head-On Crash Near Granby

Granby, CO - A crash involving several vehicles left two people dead Wednesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the crash along Highway 40 at around 11:30 a.m.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred when a Ford F-250, driven by Thomas Lang, 20, rear-ended a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 20-year-old Gavin Laing.

The Ford then traveled into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Buick sedan.

The elderly driver and passenger of the Buick, whose identities have not been released, were both transported to Middle Park Health-Granby. Both died from their injuries.

The driver of the Ford was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet was able to drive away from the scene with no injuries.

Authorities report that the crash remains under investigation. Neither speed nor impairment are suspected as factors in the crash, and weather conditions were clear and dry.
