Authorities Investigating Driver in Suspected DUI Crash that Injured 6
A suspected DUI crash involving two vehicles left six people injured on Friday, June 7th. Police are currently investigating a woman for DUI and vehicular assault in connection with the accident.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, the crash took place in the afternoon around 3 p.m. on Highway 50. Misty Johnson, 38, was reportedly driving westbound in the shoulder when she lost control and crashed into a pickup towing a camping trailer.
Johnson was ejected from her vehicle after it went off the side of the road. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was taken to the hospital and treated for moderate injuries.
The 35-year-old driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital via Flight-For-Life with serious injuries after he lost control and rolled several times off the road. The four other passengers in the pickup—a 38-year-old woman and three children ages 8, 13, and 14—were also transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Authorities say alcohol, drugs, and reckless driving are all suspected factors in the crash, though it remains under investigation.
