LAKEWOOD, CO - Lakewood police announced the driver suspected in a fatal hit-and-run crash is now in custody. Police identified the driver as 50-year-old Joy Lynn Manzanares.
The announcement came in an LPD press release on Wednesday after the driver turned herself in at the Lakewood Police Department. Manzanares now faces charges in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.
The crash happened on West Colfax Avenue at Carr Street around 10:20 p.m. on Tuesday. A pedestrian was attempting to cross Colfax at the Carr street intersection. He was inside the crosswalk, but crossing against the light. Manzanares who was driving eastbound on Colfax in a Toyota extended cab pickup struck the man in the street. Police identified the pedestrian as 60-year-old Christopher Clark.
Witnesses say after the truck hit Clark, it continued eastbound on Colfax. In their investigation, police found Manzanares was, in fact, driving the truck at the time of the accident. She remains in police custody, charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries.
