Car Flattened, One Man Injured in Colorado Springs Sedan and Semi-Truck Collision
Around 5:30 am, Colorado Springs Police and fire responded to an accident on South Union Blvd. at East Platte Ave. A concrete truck traveling west on Platte struck the passenger side of a Toyota sedan. The driver of the sedan was attempting a left turn from eastbound Platte onto northbound Union.
The sedan was virtually flattened by the cement truck. Police extracted the driver from the Toyota and transported him an area hospital. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the concrete truck was not injured.
The intersection remained closed for about four and a half hours following the crash while police conducted their investigation. The cause of the crash has not been determined. When asked about the crash, the driver of the cement truck claims the driver of the sedan failed to yield when turning left on a green light and he did not have enough time to slow his truck down to avoid hitting the vehicle.
