59-Year-Old Longmont Man Ticketed for Crash that Injured Cyclist
Longmont, CO - A man was ticketed following an incident that injured a Boulder cyclist in the afternoon on Saturday, August 24th.
According to the Colorado State Patrol, Norman Mottram, 59, hit a cyclist traveling south on Diagonal Highway around 12:47 p.m. Mottram apparently had stopped at the highway briefly before entering and striking the cyclist.
The cyclist, who has not been identified, was taken to Boulder Community Health’s Foothills Hospital with serious injuries. Mottram was not injured.
Mottram was cited with careless driving resulting in injury, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors. Colorado prosecutors have noted in the past that the state’s traffic laws concerning injuries to cyclists are fairly lax on drivers.
Our deepest condolences go out to all of those impacted by this incident. If a victim or family member would like this post removed from the site for any reason, just click this link: REMOVE POST
