Suspect in Fourth of July Hit-and-Run that Killed Cyclist Arrested
Parker, CO — The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday, July 19 that deputies had arrested a suspect in connection with the hit-and-run crash that killed cyclist Edward Vogel on the Fourth of July
Preston James Dorris, 36, was arrested in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and was returned to Colorado on Tuesday, July 16.
Edward Vogel, 64, was riding his bike around 6:25 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, when he was struck by a Kia sedan near Centennial Drive in Parker. The driver left the scene and abandoned the vehicle a few blocks away in the parking lot of the Victorian Village Townhomes.
Vogel was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries. According to a statement released by his family, he was s a “loving husband, father, community servant and soon to be grandfather.”
