Alcohol a Suspected Factor in Serious Crash On Highway 285One person was seriously injured in a crash on Highway 285 Tuesday morning. Around 10:45 a.m. on April 23rd, a Mazda driven by Tierney Kennedy, 24, lost control while taking a curve at high speed.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, the Mazda drove off the left side of the roadway and began to rotate clockwise. The front of the Mazda collided with the right side of a semi traveling in the opposite direction.

The Mazda rolled over one and a half times before coming to a stop on a barbed wire fence on the side of the roadway. The semi also left the roadway and came to a rest on its wheels after hitting a large rock.

The driver of the semi, 55-year-old Jeffrey Westendorf, was uninjured. Kennedy, who was wearing a seatbelt, had only minor injuries. Her passenger, who was not wearing a seatbelt, had serious injuries.

Although the investigation is ongoing, authorities suspect alcohol and speed to be factors in the crash.
