2 Killed in Crash Involving Motorcycle; Drug or Alcohol Impairment Suspected
Chaffee County, CO— Two people were killed and another injured in a motorcycle crash around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 2nd.
According to Colorado State Patrol officers, Travis York, 61, and Linda York, 59, were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle west on Highway 50 near Monarch Pass.
As they were riding, a Nissan SUV crossed into the westbound lanes and collided with them head-on.
Both riders were ejected from the motorcycle. Mr. York was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ms. York died later after being taken to the Heart of the Rockies Medical Center.
Diane Patten, the 69-year-old driver of the Nissan, was transported to UCHealth Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.
Authorities states they believe drug or alcohol impairment to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
