Two Colorado Springs Area Teens Dead After Crash With Semi-Truck
Monument (December 27, 2018) - The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash that left two teenagers dead. Just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, two teens headed westbound on Highway 105 collided with a semi-truck near Sierra Way, east of Monument.
17-year-old Kaden Currier, of Monument, was driving a 2002 Acura when he lost control of the vehicle. He crossed over into the eastbound lane of the highway and struck a Volvo semi-truck. The 17-year-old passenger was Avory Kvale from Colorado Springs. Neither teen was wearing a seat belt and both were pronounced dead at the scene. Both teenagers were students at Discovery Canyon High School in Colorado Springs.
The 51-year-old semi-truck driver, Christoper Murray, was not injured in the crash.
Police are still investigating what took place, but slick roads may have played a role in the accident. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor.
