Two Northern Colorado Men Injured in US Hwy 85 Rollover Crash

Highway 85 near Ault (January 14, 2019) - A rollover crash on US Highway 85 left two Greeley area men seriously injured on Monday. The accident took place around 3:45 pm, just outside of Ault.

Colorado State Patrol trooper Josh Lewis responded to the scene. The single-vehicle accident involved a Cat truck. According to the trooper, it appears the vehicle’s front left tire tread separated while it was traveling Southbound Highway 85 near Weld County Road 84. Damage to the tire caused the truck to veer into the Northbound lanes of US 85. The vehicle then rotated in the shoulder and rolled off the East side of the road.

Both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. The 36-year-old driver is from Greely. The 19-year-old passenger is a Windsor man. Due to the serious nature of their injuries, both men were transported to North Colorado Medical Center. Their names have not been released.

The accident closed Northbound US Highway 85 from approximately 3:50 pm - 5:00 pm on Monday.
